We are launching a Kickstarter for our Noncorporeal anthology and we’d love to have you join us. There will be some great deals and opportunities for patrons–not to mention some amazing and ghastly tales. Follow the Kickstarter here.
We are beyond excited to announce that Kevin J. Anderson has agreed to provide us with a short story to lead our 3rd Hidden Villains anthology due in 2024.
As well as a renowned writer, Kevin J. Anderson is a mentor to many authors through Superstars, a graduate program on Publishing, his books, and as a speaker at many conventions. We are honored to have him lead this year’s anthology.
Kevin J. Anderson has published more than 175 books, 58 of which have been national or international bestsellers. He has written numerous novels in the Star Wars, X-Files, and Dune universes, as well as a unique steampunk fantasy trilogy beginning with Clockwork Angels, written with legendary rock drummer Neil Peart. His original works include the Saga of Seven Suns series, the Wake the Dragon and Terra Incognita fantasy trilogies, the Saga of Shadows trilogy, and his humorous horror series featuring Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. He has edited numerous anthologies, written comics and games, and the lyrics to two rock CDs. Anderson is the director of the graduate program in Publishing at Western Colorado University. Anderson and his wife Rebecca Moesta are the publishers of WordFire Press. His most recent novels are Clockwork Destiny, Gods and Dragons, Dune: The Lady of Caladan (with Brian Herbert), and Slushpile Memories: How NOT to Get Rejected.
Our fundraiser has closed, thank you to all who supported us! We raised 2500.00!
Our costs for this years anthology come close to 7000.00 because we bring an industry name for the lead story, hire the best editor, and commission professional cover art. Hidden Villains is always worth it. We believe next year’s Kickstarter will be even more successful!
Theme: Hidden Villains: Arise – Bold, imaginative fantasy, horror, and sci-fi sculpted to thrill and entertain readers with the bizarre or delve into the shadows. Arise – appear, emerge, come to light, surface, befall, ensue, stand up, transpire, etc. Express yourself as the theme moves you.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jody Lynn Nye has allowed us to include a wonderful short story in the upcoming anthology. The Fiber of Being will be our lead story and we can’t wait for you to read it.
Jody Lynn Nye teaches a two-day writers workshop at DragonCon that is a powerful opportunity for aspiring authors. This year, she has taken on the position of Coordinating Judge of the Writers of the Future contest. Find out more at jodynye.com or take her course at DragonCon.
Submissions will be open June 1st for Hidden Villains: Arise. Robyn Huss has agreed to be our editor again this year and we’ve reached out to Vivid Covers for their wonderful art.
Amazon jumped the launch and started selling paperbacks a couple days ago. Kindle and other Ingram outlets are still holding to March 17th pre-orders.
It has worked out to our benefit as Robyn Huss and other authors were moved into the top 100s in two categories: Science Fiction anthologies and Fantasy anthologies. We got close on Mystery anthologies as well.
